I'll probably pick up this week again, otherwise the next one for sure.īut that's enough about my story for now. Plus I've got other things on my mind, things IRL )Īnd yes, I know the one thing to get past a writers block is to keep writing. And that makes it very hard to focus on the story at hand at times. So I can't keep myself to my own advice, because I have to keep a bigger scope in mind while only allowing the readers to notice just a small fracture of it. Most of them are for the same story, though, but also a lot for upcoming ones. So pretty much every chapter contains some well hidden easter eggs. You see, I'm bad at following my own advice because the main reason I started writing A Stormcrown Story was for it to serve as an introduction for other stories To start with a well known character (Tiber Septim) and use him to weave other events into the universe of TES. Perhaps you'll be glad to hear I've decided to write Rozan Red in phase 1 already (after 2 other stories), while some other titles I mentioned before will be delayed until later phases. In the meantime I've re-edited my scheme of phases. Don't take me wrong: It's still an important chapter with lots of things happening, but I've a bit of writers block while focusing too much on the chapter after and the other stories. I'm stuck (again) with a chapter I don't want to write, because it's an in-between chapter. ![]() No matter if it's in here or via the mail. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that you can always ask me for help when you need it. But add too much details and you'll loose them, making them unable to know where to focus on anymore.īut, I'm telling only things you already know. You have to add enough details for the reader to understand the basic rules of how the universe works while at the same time keeping them hungry enough for more at the end of the story. What's important is to keep the balance in details. And I already failed in keeping the story basic (I'm still on track with I had originally planned, but just twice as long). While writing A Stormcrown Story, I tend to fantasize about other stories with pretty much every line I write. It's key to stay focused on the little details and the simpler story whith what you started with. It not only adds to the mystery and makes the world feel more alive and dynamic, it also gives you windows of opportunities to write sequels or spin-offs, but only AFTER you're done with the original story. Remember what I told you about creating a maze and the parallelism with writing? You can still add little sideways, small details without elaborating much on them. However, that doesn't mean it can't be in there. There's so much to tell and so much to explore, but there just isn't simply the time for it. Yeah if you're introducing a new world, it's very hard to keep the story simple.
